Section 1. Educational and Evaluative Activities. Pursuant to W.S. 1977 33-25-102 a physical therapist may participate in educational or evaluation activities without the authority, supervision, or prescription of a physician, dentist or podiatrist.
Section 2. Initiation of Treatment. Before initiating any individual intervention program designed to prevent, correct or alleviate or limit a physical disability, a physical therapist must obtain a prescription of a physician, dentist or podiatrist or be under the authority or supervision of a physician.
Section 3. Physical Therapy Assistant Practice. A Physical Therapy Assistant shall only practice in a physical therapy service under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
(a) 'Authority' means a written statement approving and giving permission to initiate and implement a physical therapy program to an individual or group from a physician having a physician-patient relationship with that individual or group.
(b) 'Direct Supervision' means that a licensed physical therapist provides authoritative and procedural guidance for the rendering of the services with initial direction and periodic inspection of the actual act and is on the premises during the time activity is performed subject to that supervision.
(c) 'Supervision' means that a licensed physical therapist of physician provides procedural guidance for the rendering of the services with initial direction and periodic review.
