1. (a) Required by Act. A person, who is required by the Act to register in order to manufacture, distribute, prescribe, possess, analyze, dispense, or conduct research with a controlled substance, must obtain a registration from the director (CSR Section).
2. (b) Generally. Only a person actually engaged, in this state, in an activity covered by the registration provisions of the Act must obtain a registration. A related or affiliated person who is not engaged in a covered activity is not required to register.

3. (c) Activities. The director may register a person for one or more of the following categories of business activity:

   1. (1) practitioner;
   2. (2) pharmacy;
   3. (3) hospital;
   4. (4) manufacturer;
   5. (5) researcher;
   6. (6) teaching institution;
   7. (7) distributor;
   8. (8) analyst or analytical lab;
   9. (9) EMSP;
   10. (10) peyote distributor; or
   11. (11) mid-level practitioner.

4. (d) Schedules. The director may register a person for one or more of the following schedules:

   1. (1) Schedule I;
   2. (2) Schedule II (narcotic);
   3. (3) Schedule II (non-narcotic);
   4. (4) Schedule III (narcotic);
   5. (5) Schedule III (non-narcotic);
   6. (6) Schedule IV; or
   7. (7) Schedule V.
5. (e) Lawful possession. A registrant may lawfully possess a controlled substance to the extent authorized by the registration.
6. (f) An applicant may apply for registration as a manufacturer, researcher, teaching institution, distributor, analyst, or analytical laboratory only after obtaining the appropriate registration from DEA.
