CHAPTER 6

LICENSURE BY EXEMPTION REQUIREMENTS

Section 1. General Requirements. No license by exemption shall be issued until the applicant has provided satisfactory evidence to the Board that;

1. (a) the applicant has reached the age of majority; and
2. (b) the applicant has been primarily employed in this state in an area of practice defined by W.S. 33-38-102(a)(iv) through (vii) within two (2) years prior to December 31, 1997; and
3. (c) the applicant should demonstrate their integrity, professionalism and character in the profession in which licensure is sought through professional recommendations which attest to the applicants' abilities and professional performance.

Section 2. Clinical Social Worker. In addition to the requirements established in Section 1, applicants for licensure as a Clinical Social Worker by exemption must also meet the following criteria:

1. (a) The applicant has satisfied the education requirement established in Chapter 3, Section 2(c), and
2. (b) The applicant has no felony convictions, and no misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude, although exemptions to this requirement may be granted by the Board if consistent with the public interest.

Section 3. Marriage and Family Therapist. In addition to the requirements established in Section 1, applicants for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist by exemption must also meet the following criteria:

1. (a) The applicant has satisfied the education requirement established in Chapter 3, Section 2(b).
2. (b) The applicant has no felony convictions, and no misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude, although exemptions to this requirement may be granted by the Board if consistent with the public interest.

Section 4. Addictions Therapist. In addition to the requirements established in Section 1, applicants for licensure as an Addictions Therapist by exemption must also meet the following criteria:

1. (a) The applicant has satisfied the education requirement established in Chapter 3, Section 2(d), or meets the educational equivalency as follows:
2. (i) The applicant holds a bachelor's degree in an addictions related field and has accumulated education and/or training in addictions therapy equivalent to forty-eight (48) points. A minimum of two (2) points must be relative to professional ethics, or

(ii) The applicant holds a bachelor's degree in an unrelated field and has accumulated education and/or training in addictions therapy equivalent to seventy-eight (78) points. A minimum of two (2) points must be relative to professional ethics, or

(iii) The applicant has accumulated education and/or training in addictions therapy equivalent to one hundred seventy-six (176) points. A minimum of two (2) points must be relative to professional ethics.

(iv) Points shall be awarded as follows:

(A) One (1) semester credit equals one (1) point.

(B) Fifteen (15) workshop hours equals one (1) point.

(C) One (1) year of full time related work experience equals twelve (12) points. Points will be awarded for partial year or part time employment on a prorated basis.

(D) Passing the WAAS level III exam equals two (2) points.

(E) Passing the NCAC level II exam equals three (3) points.

(F) Passing the NCAC level I exam equals two (2) points.

(b) The applicant has five (5) years of experience practicing in the field of addictions therapy.

Section 5. Professional Counselor. In addition to the requirements established in Section 1, applicants for licensure as a Professional Counselor by exemption must also meet the following criteria:

(a) The applicant has satisfied the education requirement established in Chapter 3, Section 2(a); or

(b) The applicant has received a master's or doctorate degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, which is clinical in content, and has at least two (2) years of verifiable supervised clinical experience; or

(c) The applicant has received a master's or doctorate degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education, which is clinical in content, and has passed the required exam as established in Chapter 3, Section 5(a) and (b).
