Section 1. Statement of Purpose. These rules and regulations are adopted to implement the Board's authority to establish the qualification and standards of education and performance required for licensure.
Section 2. License Required. No individual shall perform any act specifically authorized for a podiatrist nor function as a podiatrist nor represent himself/herself as a "podiatrist", "foot correctionist", "foot expert", "foot specialist", "chiropodist" or any other term or designation indicating to the public that he/she is holding him/herself out as a podiatrist in any manner unless that individual holds a current license issued by the Board.
Section 3. Education Requirement. Every applicant for licensure must:
Section 4. Examination Requirement. Every applicant for licensure must have successfully completed the PMLexis examination in accordance with W.S. 33-9-105 and an oral clinical examination administered by the Board.
For the purposes of licensure the Board will require the following in fulfillment of the examination requirement:
(i) The license held must be current and have been issued at least one (1) year prior to filing an application in Wyoming.
(ii) At the time of application in Wyoming, the license issued by another jurisdiction must not be suspended or revoked based on grounds which would be grounds for the refusal or revocation of a license to practice podiatry in Wyoming.
(iii) The applicant must have successfully completed that jurisdiction’s examination in clinical podiatry.
(a) Every applicant for licensure shall not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or controlled substances which may impair the applicant’s ability to provide competent health care or which could pose a threat to the safety of the consumer public. A plea of nolo contendere shall create a rebuttable presumption of guilt to the underlying criminal charges.
(b) A temporary license will not be issued by the Board.
