1. (a) The commission may issue credentials to three types of training or education providers:

   1. (1) licensed law enforcement academy;
   2. (2) contractual training provider; or
   3. (3) a licensed academic provider.

2. (b) The commission issues these licenses or contracts for a specified period of time:

   1. (1) five years for a licensed law enforcement academy;
   2. (2) two years for a contractual training provider;
   3. (3) five years for a licensed academic provider; or
   4. (4) for a shorter period as appropriate for a program found to be at risk.
3. (c) License renewal is dependent upon continued compliance with commission rules and performance, which includes risk assessment.
4. (d) The effective date of this section is June 1, 2004.
