- (a) The board will consider recommending to the governor an indefinite medical emergency reprieve in instances such as terminal illness, total disability, or for needed medical care which cannot be provided by the medical facilities of the Texas Department of Corrections.
- (b) A medical reprieve to private facilities, to a state hospital, to a mental hospital, or a tubercular hospital, or a medical reprieve for childbirth must be requested by the medical director of the Texas Department of Corrections, and approved by the management of the Texas Department of Corrections.
