A free, statewide program of library service for Texas residents who are blind, reading disabled, or physically handicapped is operated and administered by the Texas State Library, Program for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped provides the Texas State Library with books in braille and audio format under regulations established by the Library of Congress. The National Library Service also provides the Texas State Library with playback equipment for reading materials in audio format.
