- (a) Authority for this chapter is provided in the §§62.161 - 62.168 of the Education Code, Governor's University Research Initiative. These rules establish procedures to administer this grant program to award matching grants to eligible Texas institutions of higher education.
- (b) The purpose of the GURI grant program is to provide matching grants to eligible applicant institutions to provide funds to support the recruitment of distinguished researchers to Texas in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine.
