Standard cord-equivalent weights for pulpwood

Effective Aug 25, 19941962 Code SECTION 66-160.1; 1970 (56) 1964; 1994 Act No. 501, SECTION 2, eff August 25, 1994.

  1. (A) Pulpwood sold in South Carolina by weight must be based on the following weights as standard cord equivalents:

    1. (1) hardwood:

      1. (a) soft hardwoods: 5,450 pounds;
      2. (b) hard hardwoods: 6,200 pounds;
      3. (c) mixed hardwoods: 5,800 pounds;
    2. (2) pine: all counties: 5,350 pounds.
  2. (B) For purposes of this section hard hardwoods include oaks, hickorys, pecans, persimmon, ironwood, locusts, holly, dogwood, chinaberrys, and cherry. Others are classified as soft hardwoods.
  3. (C) A person violating this section, upon conviction, must be fined not more than one hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than thirty days.

Effect of Amendment

The 1994 amendment added designators and made grammatical changes.
