Minn. Stat. § 148C.05
Subd. 1. Renewal requirements.
To renew a license, an applicant must:

At the time of renewal, if required, each licensee shall furnish evidence satisfactory to the commissioner that the licensee has completed at least the equivalent of 40 clock hours of continuing professional postdegree education during the past two years, in programs approved by the commissioner, after consultation with the education committee, and that the licensee continues to be qualified to practice under sections 148C.01 to 148C.11.
Subd. 3. Late renewals.
The deadline to renew licensure is the date set by the commissioner. An application submitted after that date but before the renewal deadline shall be a late renewal and must be accompanied by a late fee as required in section 148C.0351, subdivision 2.
Subd. 4. Lapse in licensure.
An applicant's license shall lapse if the renewal application is not received by the date set by the commissioner. An applicant whose license has lapsed less than two years must meet all the requirements of this chapter except the examination requirements of section 148C.04. An applicant whose license has lapsed for two years or more must meet all the requirements of this chapter except the continuing education requirement of subdivision 2. License renewal fees of applicants whose license has lapsed shall not be prorated over the time remaining in the annual licensure period.
