D.C. Code § 3-1206.07a

Certified nurse practitioner.

  1. (a) In addition to the functions authorized under § 3-1206.04, a certified nurse practitioner may provide a full range of primary, acute, and specialty healthcare services, including:

    1. (1) Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays;
    2. (2) Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, and injuries;
    3. (3) Prescribing medications and other treatments;
    4. (4) Managing patients' or clients' overall care;
    5. (5) Counseling;
    6. (6) Educating patients on disease prevention and positive health and lifestyle choices; and
    7. (7) Any other functions and roles as may be prescribed by rules.
