(a) An applicant who has graduated from a Wyoming barber school may apply for a barber or barber stylist license by taking a theory and practical exam.
(b) An applicant who is licensed in another state, but has not taken a board-administered practical examination and does not have one (1) year work history, may apply for the same license in Wyoming by taking the practical phase of the relevant exam.
(c) Applications for licensing by examination shall be submitted to the Board office on the prescribed form accompanied by required documentation and the appropriate fees. The Board must receive applications for licensing by examination no later than fifteen (15) days prior to the examination date.
(d) An applicant who fails the examination may retake any phase of the exam failed. Applicants must reapply and pay the appropriate fee before retaking any phase of the exam.
(e) Any applicant who has failed any phase of an exam and does not pass all phases within one year of failing must retake the entire examination.
All applicants who are licensed in another country may apply for licensure by examination in accordance with Section 1 of this Chapter or may apply for licensing by endorsement under W.S. 33-7-203 and Section 3 of these rules. In either case, international applicants must provide the Board with an English translation of all documentation relating to their training or licensing if the documents are not in English.
(a) An applicant from another state or country who meets the requirements of W.S. 33-7-203 who has passed a board-administered theory examination and a board-administered practical examination may apply for licensure by endorsement.
(b) An applicant from another state or country who meets the requirements of W.S. 33-7-203 who has passed a board-administered theory examination and has at least one (1) year of work history in a barber shop meets the requirements for licensure by endorsement.
(c) Applications for endorsement shall be submitted to the Board on the prescribed forms and accompanied by required documentation and appropriate fees.
(i) An applicant shall meet all requirements set forth in Chapter 7, Section 3, shall have studied for equal or greater hour requirements outlined in Chapter 8, Section 4, and shall graduate a barber instructor program. Applicants must apply for the examination on forms the Board will prescribe. The Board must receive this application no later than fifteen (15) days prior to the examination date, or
(ii) An applicant who has not graduated a barber instructor program shall meet all requirements set forth in Chapter 7, Section 3. The applicant shall have studied education from outside a barber school or have a combination of training and work history in education. Regardless whether the applicant has studied or practiced education, the applicant's study or practice must be equal or greater than the hour requirements outlined in Chapter 8, Section 4 of these rules. Applicants must apply for the examination on forms the Board will prescribe. The Board must receive this application no later than fifteen (15) days prior to the examination date.
(b) Licensing by Endorsement.
(i) An instructor who holds a barber license and has one (1) year of work history in a barber shop, and who has passed both a board-administered instructor theory exam and a board-administered instructor practical exam, may apply for an instructor license by endorsement on forms the Board will prescribe; or
(ii) An instructor who holds a barber license, and has one (1) year of work history in a barber shop, and has passed a board-administered instructor theory exam, and has one (1) year of work history in a barber school, may apply for an instructor license by endorsement on forms the Board will prescribe.
