CONTINUING EDUCATION
Section 1. Required for License Renewal. Beginning with the application for renewal of license for the 2001-2002 biennium, each licensee shall have acquired sixteen (16) Professional Development Units (PDU) for each twenty-four (24) month period since his/her last renewal or initial registration, as the case may be, as a condition of renewal. Failure to comply with these requirements shall result in non-renewal of the license.
Section 2. Professional Development Unit (PDU). One continuous instructional hour, consisting of not less than fifty (50) minutes of actual instruction or presentation, spent in either Structured Educational Activities or Individually Planned Activities intended to increase the licensee's knowledge and competence in Public Protection Subjects.
Section 3. Structured Educational Activities. Educational activities in which the teaching methodology consists primarily of the systematic presentation of Public Protection Subjects by qualified individuals or organizations, including monographs, course of study taught in person or by correspondence, organized lectures, presentations or workshops and other means through which identifiable technical and professional subjects are presented in a planned manner.
Section 4. Individually Planned Educational Activities. Educational activities in which the teaching methodology primarily consists of the licensee himself or herself addressing Public Protection Subjects which are not systematically presented by others, including reading or writing articles of such Subjects, studying or researching building types, designs or building systems, rendering services to the public, advancing the licensee's and the public's understanding of the practice of architecture and the like.
Section 5. Public Protection Subjects. Technical and professional subjects, which the Board deems appropriate to safeguard the public's health, safety and welfare. Such subjects include building design, landscape design, environmental or land use analysis, life safety, architectural programming, site planning, site and soils analyses, plant material, accessibility, structural systems considerations, lateral forces, building codes, evaluation and selection of building systems, products or materials, construction methods, contract documentation, construction administration and the like.
(b) PDUs may be audited by the Board for verification of compliance with these requirements.
(i) If the Board disallows any PDUs, unless the Board finds following a notice and hearing that the licensee willfully disregarded these requirements, then the licensee shall have six (6) months from notice of such disallowance to either provide further evidence of having acquired the PDUs disallowed or to cure the disallowance by acquiring the required number of PDUs.
(ii) These additional PDUs shall not be used again for the next renewal.
(c) The licensee shall maintain evidence of compliance for two (2) years after submission of the form to which it relates.
Section 7. Exemptions. A licensee shall not be subject to these requirements if during the current renewal period:
(a) The licensee otherwise meets all renewal requirements and is a civilian called to active duty in the armed forces of the United States for a significant period of time.
(b) The licensee is ill or disabled for a significant period of time or can demonstrate to the Board other like hardship.
(c) The licensee was initially issued their Wyoming license by examination.
