Utah Code Ann. § 77-13-1

Kinds of pleas.

Effective May 3, 2023Amended by Chapter 184, 2023 General Session

  1. (1) There are five kinds of pleas to an indictment or information:

    1. (a) not guilty;
    2. (b) guilty;
    3. (c) no contest;
    4. (d) not guilty by reason of insanity; and
    5. (e) guilty with a mental condition at the time of the offense.
  2. (2) An alternative plea of not guilty or not guilty by reason of insanity may be entered.
