1. (1) As used in this section:

   1. (a) "Elected official" means:

      1. (i) a member of the Legislature;
      2. (ii) a member of the legislative body of a local government;
      3. (iii) a member of a board of education; or
      4. (iv) the mayor of a city, town, or metro township.
   2. (b) "Elected official" includes a person who is appointed to fill a vacancy in the office of an elected official described in Subsection (1)(a).
2. (2) A person may not communicate with an elected official's employer with the intent to influence, coerce, or intimidate the elected official's action on a vote or another official act.
