1. (1) As used in this section:

   1. (a) "Blood" means human blood.

   2. (b) "Blood product" includes:

      1. (i) whole blood;
      2. (ii) blood plasma;
      3. (iii) a blood derivative;
      4. (iv) blood platelets; and
      5. (v) blood clotting agents.

2. (2) The following are considered to be the rendition of a service by each participant and are not considered to be a sale:

   1. (a) the procurement, processing, distribution, or use of a blood product for the purpose of injecting or transfusing the blood product into the human body; and
   2. (b) the process of injecting or transfusing a blood product.
3. (3) A minor who is at least 16 years old may donate blood to a voluntary, noncompensatory blood donation program if a parent or legal guardian of the minor consents to the donation.
