This chapter, referred to in subsec. (c), was in the original “this Act”, meaning act July 26, 1947, ch. 343, 61 Stat. 495, known as the National Security Act of 1947, which is classified principally to this chapter. For complete classification of this Act to the Code, see Tables.
Section effective , and applicable upon the earlier of the date of the first nomination by the President of an individual to serve as the Director of the National Reconnaissance Office that occurs on or after , or the date of the cessation of the performance of the duties of the Director of the National Reconnaissance Office by the individual performing such duties on , subject to an exception for initial nominations, see section 413 of Pub. L. 113–126, set out as an Effective Date of 2014 Amendment note under section 8G of the Inspector General Act of 1978, Pub. L. 95–452, in the Appendix to Title 5, Government Organization and Employees.
Pub. L. 113–126, title IV, § 411(b), , 128 Stat. 1409, provided that:
- “(1) In general.— The President may designate the Director of the National Reconnaissance Office as a position of importance and responsibility under section 601 of title 10, United States Code.
- “(2) Effective date.— Paragraph (1) shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act [].”
