- (a) A motor carrier may not operate a commercial motor vehicle upon the public roads or highways of this state without first obtaining a certificate of registration issued by the department as prescribed in this subchapter and a valid United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) number issued by or under the authority of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
- (b) A household goods carrier may not operate a vehicle upon the public roads or highways of this state without first obtaining a certificate of registration issued by the department as prescribed in this subchapter and a valid USDOT number issued by or under the authority of the FMCSA.
- (c) For the purposes of this subchapter, a valid USDOT number is an active USDOT number.
