A sick leave pool is established to alleviate hardship caused to an employee and employee's immediate family if a catastrophic illness or injury forces the employee to exhaust all sick leave earned by the employee and to lose compensation from the state.

1. (1) The executive director or another individual designated by the board of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles shall administer the pool.
2. (2) The pool administrator shall develop and administer procedures for the administration of this section.
3. (3) Operation of the pool shall be consistent with Government Code, Chapter 661.
