The following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.

1. (1) Acknowledgment sign--A sign that is intended only to inform the traveling public that a highway-related service is sponsored by a participating sponsor.
2. (2) Department--The Texas Department of Transportation.
3. (3) Participating sponsor--An individual, corporation, business, firm, group, or association that contributes towards a highway-related service.
4. (4) TMUTCD--Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices issued by the department.
5. (5) Vendor--An individual or business that acts as the authorized agent of the department in the marketing, administration, and soliciting of a participating sponsor for the acknowledgment program.
