- (a) All newly appointed officers shall be provided a copy of information concerning initial training and maintenance of certification of training when information is received indicating an appointment has been made by a county commissioners court.
- (b) Completion of initial training shall constitute necessary training to issue a certificate of training for a year. Officers must complete initial training within one year from the date of appointment or the effective date of this rule.
- (c) Attendance of a training conference may not be substituted for initial training.
- (d) No hours of credit will be allowed for training attended prior to initial training.
- (e) Each officer shall be required to earn 12 credit hours each year to maintain certification. Credit hours may be accumulated in one year by attendance at more than one training conference. Credit hours may not be accumulated for the same subjects at two or more spring conferences.
- (f) Credit hours may not be earned by attending training sponsored or conducted by organizations other than the commission.
- (g) After attendance of initial training, eligibility for certification of training for each officer shall be determined once each year on the anniversary date.
- (h) A certificate of training shall be issued by the commission to each officer who completes the required number of credit hours of training.
- (i) Inquiries concerning certification of training shall be directed to and answered by the chief of information and training of the commission. Disputes shall be reviewed and a decision rendered by the chief of information and training. Disputes which remain unresolved shall be referred to the executive director of the commission or the executive director's designee(s). The decision of the executive director or the executive director's designee(s) shall be final.
