1. (a) The requirements for a drug recognition expert (DRE) certificate include:

   1. (1) an active peace officer license;
   2. (2) a current commission as a peace officer; and

   3. (3) credit for completion of the current courses required by the commission for the certificate, which include:

      1. (A) Drug Recognition Expert Pre-School;
      2. (B) Drug Recognition Expert Classroom;
      3. (C) Drug Recognition Expert Certification; and
      4. (D) Drug Recognition Expert In-Service Training.

2. (b) The requirements for a standardized field sobriety testing (SFST) certificate include:

   1. (1) an active peace officer license;
   2. (2) a current commission as a peace officer; and

   3. (3) credit for completion of the current courses required by the commission for the certificate, which include:

      1. (A) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Classroom; and
      2. (B) Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Certification.
3. (c) The effective date of this section is November 1, 1997.
