- (a) A member who is absent from service for five consecutive years before accumulating at least four years of service credited with retirement systems participating in the proportionate retirement program under paragraphs (1) and (2) of §803.0021 of the Texas Government Code terminates membership in this retirement system.
- (b) The date the person's membership terminates is the first day following the 60th consecutive calendar month for which the member did not receive service credit in a retirement system participating in the proportionate retirement program under paragraph (1) or (2) of §803.0021.
- (c) For purposes of Section 842.108, a person whose membership terminates as a result of absence from service shall be considered to have made written application to withdraw from membership on the date the person's membership terminates.
- (d) The interest to be allocated to the account of a person whose membership is terminated as a result of absence from service shall be computed from the beginning of the calendar year of termination through the month ending before the date of termination on the balance in the member's individual account in the employees saving fund on January 1 of that year.
- (e) Interest computed under this section shall be credited to the member's individual account prior to the closing of the account and its subsequent transfer to the endowment fund in accordance with §845.505(b).
