Upon denial by the director of any claim for any benefit under the act, or in the event the claimant desires to challenge the action of the director in allowing a claim in part only, the applicant shall have 30 days from the date of the director's letter of notification within which to file with the director a written demand for a hearing. After receipt of such demand, the director shall set the matter for hearing and shall mail written notice to the applicant of the date and place of hearing.
