The following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
- (1) Adjuster--A person licensed under the Insurance Code, Article 21.07-4.
- (2) Agent--A person licensed under the Insurance Code, Article 21.07-1, holding a Group 1 legal reserve life, accident and health insurance agent license; Article 21.07-3, holding a managing general agent license; or Article 21.14, holding a local recording agent, solicitor, or insurance service representative license.
- (3) Assignee--Any individual or organization which is authorized in writing by a provider to use its courses as certified by the department.
- (4) Department--The Texas Department of Insurance.
- (5) Disinterested third party--An individual who is not related in any degree to a licensee taking a final examination as part of a course taken for continuing education credit.
- (6) Effective date--The date assigned by the department on which all provider and course submission requirements have been met to the satisfaction of the department.
- (7) Licensee--Any individual person holding a license under the authority of the Texas Insurance Code, Articles 21.07-1, 21.07-3, 21.07-4, and 21.14.
- (8) Provider--Any individual or organization which is registered with the department as a provider of continuing education courses.
- (9) Provider registration--The process of a provider seeking permission as an entity to offer continuing education courses for agents and adjusters.
- (10) Reporting period--The period from the issue date or last renewal date of the license to the expiration date of the license, generally a two-year period.
- (11) TDI ID number--A number assigned to the licensee by the department (found on the license certificate) for identification purposes.
