Income and Income Eligibles

To receive Community Care Services Eligibility services or programs, a person must:
- (1) be categorically eligible by receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Specified Low-income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB), or Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) benefits; or
- (2) be income eligible. The person's and spouse's countable income must be equal to or less than the income limit set by HHSC. For an individual person, this amount is the same as the special income limit set for institutional care (medical assistance only) by the Texas Legislature. For a couple, the income limit is twice the special income limit.
