- (a) Purpose. The purpose of this section is to implement the provisions of the Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Act, §§85.081-85.089, which requires that the Texas Department of Health (department) develop and offer a training course for persons providing HIV counseling, and charge a reasonable fee for the course.
- (b) Content. The training course shall include information relating to the special needs of persons with positive HIV test results, including the importance of early intervention and treatment and recognition of psychosocial needs.
(c) Fee.
- (1) The fee will be $150 for each participant whose affiliation is with an entity that does not contract with the department.
- (2) Fees shall be made payable to the Texas Department of Health. All fees are nonrefundable and must be received by department prior to participation in the course. Accepted form of payment shall include cashiers check or money order. No other form of payment will be accepted.
- (d) Notice. Notice of the training courses will be announced through correspondence to contractors and other appropriate entities. Detailed information about the course can be obtained from the Bureau of HIV and STD Prevention, Texas Department of Health, 1100 West 49th Street, Austin, Texas 78756-3199.
