The department shall be responsible for monitoring the quality of spinal screener training activities under the following guidelines.

1. (1) The department shall provide certification training for non-health practitioners.
2. (2) The certification training of non-health practitioners shall be by Department staff or department-approved instructors.

3. (3) The spinal screening course shall include:

   1. (A) definition of abnormal spinal curvature;
   2. (B) causes, consequences, and management of abnormal spinal curvature;
   3. (C) procedure for performing the forward-bend test;
   4. (D) notification of screening results and follow-up procedures;
   5. (E) spinal screening program standards and responsibilities; and
   6. (F) the reporting of statistical data.
4. (4) Department staff or department-approved instructors shall issue a certificate to an individual who successfully completes a department-approved spinal-screening training program. The certificate will indicate that the screener is approved by the Department to perform spinal screening for a period of five years.
5. (5) The certificate described in paragraph (4) of this section will be renewable upon successful completion of an approved continuing education course in spinal screening.
