22 Tex. Admin. Code § 133.71
A licensed engineer may take an examination for record purposes. An individual may only take the examination on the principles and practice of engineering if the individual is currently licensed in Texas as a professional engineer or has been given permission by the board to do so. Unless required to do so by the Board, an individual who has passed the examination in a specific discipline may not re-take the examination in that discipline.
