1. (a) A licensee shall:

   1. (1) conform to the generally accepted standards of practice of the chiropractic profession in Texas;
   2. (2) properly evaluate a patient;
   3. (3) obtain a patient's informed consent for any treatment;
   4. (4) protect a patient's privacy, dignity, safety, and confidential records;
   5. (5) timely transfer a patient's records;
   6. (6) timely refer a patient to an appropriate health care provider for diagnosis or treatment for a condition outside the scope of practice;
   7. (7) timely refer a patient to an appropriate health care provider for diagnosis or treatment for a condition within the scope of practice, but which requires a diagnosis or treatment that exceeds the licensee's abilities or limitations; and
   8. (8) adequately supervise staff, students, and recent graduates.
2. (b) A licensee who violates this section is subject to disciplinary action.
