- (a) For the purpose of these sections and Texas Civil Statutes, Article 4582b, a morgue shall be defined as a place where bodies of unidentified persons or those who have died of violence or unknown causes are kept until release for burial or other lawful disposition.
- (b) When making a first call, the licensed funeral director or embalmer must personally sign the release form with his usual signature, current funeral director or embalmer number, and/or must present said license upon request from the releasing institution. If an unlicensed employee is making the first call in accordance with Article 4582b, §1C, he will personally sign the release form with his usual signature and the name of the funeral establishment and/or present proof of employment at said funeral establishment upon request from the releasing institution.
- (c) Commercial embalming establishment licensees are prohibited from authorizing first calls or dealing directly with the public for services or merchandise; such first calls must be authorized by a licensed funeral establishment as defined in Article 4582b, prior to such removal. Any such removal must bear the name of the funeral establishment authorizing the removal on the release form.
