(a) Construction Documents for new buildings constructed and owned by any public entity where the total construction cost when construction commenced exceeds $100,000 shall be prepared under the supervision of an Architect, unless the project is excepted from this requirement pursuant to either Section 10 or Section 14 of the Act, if the building is intended for any of the following occupancy uses:
- (1) education: the use of a building at any time for instructional purposes;
- (2) assembly: the use of a building for the gathering together of persons for purposes such as civic, social, or religious functions or for recreation, food or drink consumption, or awaiting transportation;
- (3) office occupancy: the use of a building for business, professional, or service type transactions including normal accessory storage and the keeping of records and accounts.
- (b) Construction Documents for any alteration or addition to an existing building owned by any public entity where the total construction cost when construction commenced exceeds $50,000 and the alteration or addition requires the removal, relocation, or addition of any walls or partitions or the alteration or addition of an exit shall be prepared under the supervision of an Architect if the building is intended for any of the uses listed in subsection (a) of this section.
