- (a) Each individual who holds the Standard Superintendent Certificate issued on or after September 1, 1999, and who is employed as a superintendent by a Texas public school district is subject to the requirements of Chapter 232, Subchapter R of this title (relating to Certificate Renewal and Continuing Professional Education) except §232.830(d) of this title (relating to Requirements for Certificate Renewal).
- (b) An individual who holds a valid Texas professional administrator certificate issued prior to September 1, 1999, may voluntarily comply with the requirements of this section under procedures adopted by the executive director under §232.810, Subchapter R, of this title (relating to Voluntary Renewal of Current Texas Educators).
- (c) To satisfy the requirements of this section, an individual must complete 200 clock hours of continuing professional education every five years directly related to the standards in §242.15 of this title (relating to Standards Required for the Superintendent Certificate).
- (d) If an individual employed as a superintendent in a Texas public school does not meet the requirements, the executive director will notify that superintendent's board of trustees.
