An assignment in a departmentalized classroom for Reading (at or above grade level), Grades 6-8, for a holder of a valid elementary, secondary, or all-level certificate is allowed with one of the following certificates.

1. (1) Bilingual Generalist: Early Childhood-Grade 6 (Grade 6 only).
2. (2) Bilingual Generalist: Grades 4-8.
3. (3) Elementary English (Grades 1-8). This assignment requires verifiable preparation in teaching of reading such as in-service, seminar, or college course in reading. Initial assignments beginning with the 1990-1991 school year require nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
4. (4) Elementary Reading (Grades 1-8).
5. (5) Elementary teacher certificate plus 18 semester credit hours in English and nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
6. (6) English as a Second Language Generalist: Early Childhood-Grade 6 (Grade 6 only).
7. (7) English as a Second Language Generalist: Grades 4-8.
8. (8) English Language Arts and Reading: Grades 4-8.
9. (9) English Language Arts and Reading: Grades 7-12 (Grade 7 only).
10. (10) English Language Arts and Reading: Grades 8-12 (Grade 8 only).
11. (11) English Language Arts and Reading/Social Studies: Grades 4-8.
12. (12) Generalist: Early Childhood-Grade 6 (Grade 6 only).
13. (13) Generalist: Grades 4-8.
14. (14) Junior High School or High School--English.
15. (15) Junior High School or High School--English Language Arts, Composite. This assignment includes at least six semester credit hours of reading. Initial assignments beginning with the 2003-2004 school year require nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
16. (16) Junior High School or High School--Reading.
17. (17) Master Reading Teacher (Early Childhood-Grade 12).
18. (18) Reading Specialist.
19. (19) Reading Specialist (Early Childhood-Grade 12).
20. (20) Secondary English (Grades 6-8). This assignment requires verifiable preparation in teaching of reading such as in-service, seminar, or college course in reading. Initial assignments beginning with the 1990-1991 school year require nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
21. (21) Secondary English Language Arts, Composite (Grades 6-8). This assignment includes at least six semester credit hours of reading. Initial assignments beginning with the 2003-2004 school year require nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
22. (22) Secondary Reading (Grades 6-8).
23. (23) Secondary English (Grades 6-12). This assignment requires verifiable preparation in teaching of reading such as in-service, seminar, or college course in reading. Initial assignments beginning with the 1990-1991 school year require nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
24. (24) Secondary English Language Arts, Composite (Grades 6-12). This assignment includes at least six semester credit hours of reading. Initial assignments beginning with the 2003-2004 school year require nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
25. (25) Secondary Reading (Grades 6-12).
26. (26) Secondary or all-level teacher certificate plus 18 semester credit hours in English and nine semester credit hours of upper-division coursework in reading with at least one course in diagnostic reading techniques.
