1. (a) In-service Commission. To be eligible for in-service commission, an applicant must:

   1. (1) submit a completed application on a department-approved form demonstrating eligibility;
   2. (2) successfully pass a criminal background check;
   3. (3) pass a written examination approved by the department;
   4. (4) attend a department-approved boiler orientation program; and

2. (b) Texas ASME Commissions. To be eligible for a Texas ASME commission, an applicant must:

   1. (1) submit a completed application on a department-approved form;
   2. (2) successfully pass a criminal background check;
   3. (3) hold a valid National Board Authorized Inspector Commission; and
   4. (4) pay the fee required under §65.300.
