The following words and terms, when used in this subchapter, have the following meanings.

1. (1) Apprenticeship or apprenticeship program--This term has the same meaning as defined by statute or rule for a specific license.
2. (2) Armed forces of the United States--The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
3. (3) Military service member--A person who is currently serving in the armed forces of the United States, in a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States, including the National Guard, or in the state military service of any state.
4. (4) Military veteran--A person who has served in the armed forces of the United States, or in an auxiliary service of one of the branches of the armed forces of the United States.
5. (5) National Guard--The Army National Guard and the Air National Guard.
6. (6) Reserve component of the armed forces of the United States, including the National Guard--The Army National Guard of the United States, the Air National Guard of the United States, the Army Reserve, the Navy Reserve, the Air Force Reserve, the Marine Corps Reserve, and the Coast Guard Reserve.
7. (7) State military service of any state--The state Army National Guard, state Air National Guard, or state guard.
