Sections 62.162 and 62.168 of the Education Code, authorize the OOG to use money appropriated to the fund for grants to eligible applicant institutions. The GURI fund is a dedicated account in the state's general revenue fund. The source of funds for the GURI grant program is a biennial appropriation by the Texas Legislature in addition to other authorized deposits in the fund.
