1. (a) An application for a permit must be accompanied by a fee of $15.

2. (b) The department shall send each fee collected under this section to the comptroller. Of each fee received from the department, the comptroller shall deposit:

   1. (1) $7.50 to the credit of the general revenue fund; and

   2. (2) of the remainder:

      1. (A) 90 percent to the credit of the state highway fund; and
      2. (B) 10 percent to the credit of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles fund.
