1. (a) The board by rule shall establish a minimum number of hours of continuing education required to renew a license.

2. (b) The board may:

   1. (1) establish general categories of continuing education that meet the needs of veterinarians; and
   2. (2) require a veterinarian to successfully complete continuing education courses.
3. (c) The board may require a license holder who does not complete the required number of hours of continuing education in a year to make up the missed hours in later years. Hours required to be made up in a later year are in addition to the hours normally required to be completed in that year.
