Text of section effective on January 01, 2014

1. (a) The commission shall issue an appropriate license to a person who, as required by this chapter:

   1. (1) submits an application;
   2. (2) completes the required training;
   3. (3) passes the required examination;
   4. (4) is declared to be in satisfactory psychological and emotional health and free from drug dependency or illegal drug use; and
   5. (5) demonstrates weapons proficiency.
2. (b) The commission may issue a permanent license to a person who meets the requirements of this chapter and the rules prescribed by the commission to serve as an officer.
3. (c) The commission may issue a temporary or permanent license to a person to serve as a county jailer.
