In this subchapter:

1. (1) "Diabetes equipment" means:

   1. (A) blood glucose monitors, including noninvasive glucose monitors and glucose monitors designed to be used by blind individuals;
   2. (B) insulin pumps and associated appurtenances;
   3. (C) insulin infusion devices; and
   4. (D) podiatric appliances for the prevention of complications associated with diabetes.

2. (2) "Diabetes supplies" means:

   1. (A) test strips for blood glucose monitors;
   2. (B) visual reading and urine test strips;
   3. (C) lancets and lancet devices;
   4. (D) insulin and insulin analogs;
   5. (E) injection aids;
   6. (F) syringes;
   7. (G) prescriptive and nonprescriptive oral agents for controlling blood sugar levels; and
   8. (H) glucagon emergency kits.
3. (3) "Nutrition counseling" has the meaning assigned by Section 701.002, Occupations Code.

4. (4) "Qualified enrollee" means an individual eligible for coverage under a health benefit plan who has been diagnosed with:

   1. (A) insulin dependent or noninsulin dependent diabetes;
   2. (B) elevated blood glucose levels induced by pregnancy; or
   3. (C) another medical condition associated with elevated blood glucose levels.
