1. (a) The department shall regularly conduct internal audits of the department, including audits of:

   1. (1) facilities operated by and under contract with the department; and
   2. (2) medical services provided to children in the custody of the department.

2. (b) The department shall on a quarterly basis report the results of the audits to:

   1. (1) the committees of the senate and house of representatives with primary jurisdiction over matters concerning correctional facilities; and
   2. (2) the state auditor.
