1. (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b), an individual must purchase a firearm under Section 614.051 before the second anniversary of the date of the person's retirement or under Section 614.052 before the second anniversary of the date of the officer's death.
2. (b) A governmental entity that cannot immediately replace the firearm may delay the sale of the firearm until the entity can replace the firearm.
