S.C. Code Ann. § 56-3-2730
Section effective until January 18, 2024.
The temporary license plates and registration certificates must be designed by the Department of Motor Vehicles. On the face of each plate must be imprinted the date of issuance, the date of expiration, the make and identification number of the vehicle, and other information the department requires.

2023 Act No. 51, Sections 33 and 40(C)(1), provide as follows:
"SECTION 33. Article 30, Chapter 3, Title 56 of the S.C. Code is repealed."
"[SECTION 40.](C)(1) SECTIONS 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 30, 31, 32, and 33 take effect eight months after the approval by the Governor, provided that necessary solicitations are awarded in a timely manner in accordance with the State Consolidated Procurement Code."
