S.C. Code Ann. § 56-3-2650
Section effective until January 18, 2024.
A temporary license plate shall be used only on the vehicle for which issued and shall not be transferred, loaned, or assigned to any other person or vehicle.

2023 Act No. 51, Sections 32 and 40(C)(1), provide as follows:
"SECTION 32. Article 29, Chapter 3, Title 56 of the S.C. Code is repealed."
"[SECTION 40.](C)(1) SECTIONS 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 30, 31, 32, and 33 take effect eight months after the approval by the Governor, provided that necessary solicitations are awarded in a timely manner in accordance with the State Consolidated Procurement Code."
