The following are courts of justice in this State:

1. (1) the court for trial of impeachments;
2. (2) the Supreme Court;
3. (3) the court of appeals;

4. (4) the circuit courts, to wit:

   1. (a) a court of common pleas and
   2. (b) a court of general sessions;
5. (5) probate courts;
6. (6) the family courts;
7. (7) magistrates' courts; and
8. (8) municipal courts.
