Rights of Consumer in Inpatient or Residential Mental Health or Substance Abuse Facility - Restrictions

- A. Subject to reasonable rules regarding hours of visitation which the administrator in charge of the approved treatment facility may adopt, patients in the approved treatment facility shall be granted opportunities for adequate consultation with their attorneys, and for continuing contact with family and friends consistent with an effective treatment program.
- B. Neither mail nor any other communication to or from a patient admitted to an approved treatment facility under the provisions of this act may be intercepted, read, or censored. The administrator of the approved treatment facility may adopt reasonable rules regarding the use of telephones by patients.
