Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 4713.22 – Temporary pre-examination work permit

(A) The state board of cosmetology shall issue a temporary pre-examination work permit to a person who applies under section 4713.20 of the Revised Code for admission to an examination conducted under section 4713.24 of the Revised Code, if the person satisfies all of the following conditions:
1. (1) Is seeking a practicing license;
2. (2) Has not previously failed an examination conducted under section 4713.24 of the Revised Code to determine the applicant's fitness to practice the branch of cosmetology for which the person seeks a license;
3. (3) Pays to the board the applicable fee;
4. (4) Satisfies all other conditions established by rules adopted under section 4713.08 of the Revised Code.
(B) A person issued a temporary pre-examination work permit may practice the branch of cosmetology for which the person seeks a license until the date the person is scheduled to take an examination under section 4713.24 of the Revised Code. The person shall practice under the supervision of a person holding a current, valid managing license appropriate for the type of salon in which the permit holder practices. A temporary pre-examination work permit is renewable in accordance with rules adopted under section 4713.08 of the Revised Code.
