* § 2803-z. Antimicrobial resistance prevention and education. 1. Every general hospital and nursing home shall establish and implement an antimicrobial stewardship program that meets or exceeds federal Medicare and Medicaid conditions of participation for antimicrobial stewardship programs in health care facilities. Additionally, such program shall incorporate an ongoing process to measure the impact of the program, including review, at least annually, of antimicrobial utilization data with development of response plans for high or increasing utilization.
- 2. Every general hospital and nursing home shall establish and implement training regarding antimicrobial resistance and infection prevention and control, or ensure that such training has taken place, in addition to or within existing infection control training programs, for all individuals licensed or certified pursuant to title eight of the education law and who are required to complete coursework or training regarding infection control pursuant to section two hundred thirty-nine of this chapter or section sixty-five hundred five-b of the education law.
- 3. The commissioner shall make such rules and regulations as may be necessary and proper to carry out the provisions of this section. * NB There are 2 § 2803-z's * NB Effective March 22, 2022
