1. (1) To obtain an endorsement for the administration or use of topical medications, an occupational therapist shall:

   1. (a) complete five hours of instruction or training approved by the board in:

      1. (i) principles of topical drug interaction;
      2. (ii) adverse reactions and factors modifying response;
      3. (iii) actions of topical drugs by therapeutic classes; and
      4. (iv) techniques by which topical drugs are administered; and

   2. (b) perform one proctored treatment in direct application of topical medications, and either:

      1. (i) two proctored treatments in phonophoresis; or
      2. (ii) three proctored treatments of iontophoresis.
2. (2) All proctored treatments required in (1) must be under the direct supervision of a person offering training per ARM 24.165.510.
